Storing FKM (fluoroelastomer) safely is essential to maintain its quality and extend its shelf life. Here are some key guidelines:
1. Temperature Control
Store FKM in a cool, dry place. The ideal storage temperature is between 15°C and 25°C (59°F - 77°F).
Avoid exposure to high temperatures, as this can accelerate degradation.
If storing in a cold environment, allow the material to reach room temperature before handling to avoid brittleness.
2. Humidity and Moisture Protection
Keep FKM in a low-humidity environment to prevent moisture absorption.
Store it in airtight bags or containers to minimize contact with moisture and contaminants.
3. UV and Light Protection
FKM should be kept away from direct sunlight and sources of UV light, as these can cause the material to degrade.
Store it in opaque or dark containers to shield it from light exposure.
4. Clean and Dry Storage Area
Ensure the storage area is clean and free from dust, oils, and chemicals that could potentially react with the FKM.
